7 Important Manners Related to Du'aa:
1. Raise your hands
2. Begin by praising Allah and sending peace and blessings upon Muhammad (salallaahu 'alayhi wasallam)
3. FOCUS on the words you are saying and know their meaning
4. Say it with CERTAINTY that Allah will answer your du'aa
5. Make sure all your sustenance and nourishment is from HALAL
6. Make du'aa during times of EASE and your du'aa during times of hardship will be answered
7. Be PATIENT and don't question why Allah has not answered your specific du'aa. For it could be that Allah has answered your du'aa by giving you BETTER than what you asked for or that He delays the outcome until the HEREAFTER, and compensates you then.
I highly recommend you have a shortlist of 6 things you really want and that you ask for them first during every du'aa session. Once Allah blesses you with one of them, replace it with another.
